Biogas is a valuable form of renewable energy which allows to decarbonize areas which are especially hard to electrify such as long-distance transportation or high temperature industrial processes. Biogas, compared with other renewable energy, is easier to store for long times and to transport to remote areas.

Biogas is generated through a process called anerobic digestion. During anerobic digestion, bacteria digest biomass such as organic waste or sewage sludge in a so-called fermenter unit. In its raw form, biogas consists of a mixture of methane, CO2 and water. With the solutions of Hofstetter Gastechnik, this raw gas can be refined in order to make the best possible use of it.
